Japan’s Philosophy for Patience & Perseverance

Gaman: Japan’s Philosophy for Patience & Perseverance

JAPANESE BUSINESS CONCEPT OF THE WEEK

Gaman
(Meaning: To patiently persevere in tough times)

Gaman originated in Buddhist teachings. It teaches patience and allowing oneself to persist beyond the reasonable with the goal of accomplishing far more than what was expected.

Gaman is all about playing the long game.

This Japanese philosophy encourages leaders to:

Focus on progress
Ask for help from trusted advisors
Establish effective systems to resolve challenges

Take this time to reflect and ask yourself:

How will you choose to play the long game in your career and life? 😉
