🇺🇸🇯🇵 Understanding the Importance of Acceptance

Japan’s Philosophy for Collaboration and Unity

The Importance of Acceptance in Business

JAPANESE BUSINESS CONCEPT OF THE WEEK

Uketamo
Literal English translation: “I humbly accept with an open heart”

Uketamo means acceptance to the core.

This Japanese philosophy teaches that the sooner you accept all the good AND bad things life throws at you, the lighter you will feel. It highlights that we find our freedom through acceptance, and out of acceptance, we find growth.

For business leaders, Uketamo is a reminder that it's much more productive (and happier) to first accept and then act on challenging situations. The quality of work and decisions from a state of acceptance are significantly better than from a state of denial and resistance.
